Healing Through Community was born from a simple belief: there is something powerful about people taking care of people.
A meal shared around a table. A conversation that makes someone feel seen. Hands in the garden. Bare feet in the grass. Children laughing. Animals nearby. Learning something new from someone who simply wanted to share what they know.
At DeLauer House™, we are creating more than a beautiful place to stay. We are creating a living, breathing community where guests, our House Family, local makers, teachers, growers, artists, and dreamers can bring something meaningful to one another.
There is no promise here to “fix” anyone.
Because we believe so much of what people are searching for already lives within them.
Sometimes we simply need the right environment, the right people, and enough quiet to hear ourselves again.
Come tired. Come curious. Come inspired. Come exactly as you are.
And when it is time to leave, our greatest hope is that you walk away carrying something you didn’t arrive with—or perhaps rediscovering something that was yours all along.
A little more connection. A little more courage. A little more wonder. And a reminder that none of us were meant to do life entirely alone.

The Woman Behind DeLauer House

Founder & Visionary Director
Hi, I’m Sierra.
I’m not someone who woke up one day with a perfect business plan and all the answers. DeLauer House came from something much more personal — my life, my family, the things I’ve been through, the people I’ve loved, and a belief I’ve carried for a long time that people are capable of incredible things when they have somewhere they truly belong.
I grew up spending my summers surfing with my Pop, and some of my happiest memories come from those days. I think that’s where part of my love for freedom, nature, adventure, and connection began.
I have always been deeply empathetic. I’ve always wanted to help people, but it took me a long time to truly find my own voice. For years, I was terrified of things like public speaking, which was almost ironic because one of the things I wanted most was to use my voice for something meaningful.
Life has taken me through plenty of twists and turns. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve started over. I’ve dreamed huge dreams when there was absolutely no guarantee they would work.
And somewhere along the way, I realized I didn’t need to wait until I had a perfect life to do something meaningful with it.
That realization became part of DeLauer House.
I’m a mom, and my children are at the heart of why I’m building this. I want them to grow up knowing that their circumstances do not determine the size of their dreams. I want them to see their mom take an idea that once existed only in her heart and fight to turn it into something real.
But this dream reaches beyond my own family.
I envision DeLauer House as a home away from home — a place filled with community, creativity, nature, learning, laughter, good food, meaningful work, second chances, and people from different walks of life bringing their gifts to the same table.
I don’t believe I’m supposed to build that alone.
My role as Founder & Visionary Director is to protect the heart of this vision while bringing together the people who can make it stronger than anything I could create by myself.
I’m still learning. I’m still growing. And I hope I always will be.
But there is one thing I know with my whole heart:
DeLauer House is worth trying for.
If my children can someday walk through its doors and know that their mom was brave enough to believe in something bigger than herself — and if other people walk through those same doors and discover a little more belonging, purpose, hope, or courage of their own — then every step it took to get there will have been worth it.
I’m Sierra, and this is the beginning of what I hope becomes a legacy built by many hands and held by many hearts.
The Boy Who Never Gave Up on Me
There is another part of my story that belongs here.
My oldest son.
I love all of my children equally, but my oldest and I have shared something uniquely profound.
I had him when I was fifteen years old. In so many ways, we grew up together. We learned life alongside each other. He has seen me struggle, grow, fall, get back up, change, dream, and slowly become the woman I was always meant to be.
And through all of it, he never gave up hope in me.
He is one of the sweetest, most empathetic people I know. He is incredibly talented at anything he puts his heart into, and he carries so much creativity, kindness, intelligence, and potential inside of him.
But just like me, he struggles with his voice.
He doesn't have as many friends as someone like him should have. Not because there is anything missing in him, but because I don't think he has always had the right community around him — the kind of people who recognize everything he has to offer.
That is part of why DeLauer House means so much to me.
I want him to see that the world is so much bigger than what he has known. I want him surrounded by people, ideas, creativity, nature, laughter, and community. I want him to have a place where he can explore, create, make friends, fail, try again, discover his gifts, and most importantly, find his voice.
He had to grow up far too fast.
And after all the years that he believed in me, I want to build something that believes in him too.
He has already given me something I will carry for the rest of my life:
Hope.
Now I want to help build a world where he — and countless other young people searching for their place — have somewhere to put that hope.
DeLauer House is part of the legacy I want to leave my children.
But for the boy who never gave up on me, it is something more.
It is me helping create a world big enough for him to find his own.

DeLauer House™ is not currently a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Financial contributions are voluntary and are not tax-deductible as charitable donations. Contributions do not provide ownership, equity, investment rights, or a promise of financial return.
